Dogs in Hextable Park

The Parish Council wants to ensure that all our residents and visitors to Hextable Park can enjoy this lovely open space. We are proud of our park, and that there are now so many users of this facility. It is one of our core objectives that our open spaces are enjoyed by as many of our people as possible, and this is something we feel is extremely important. Most recently, we have invested in making this space enjoyable by more people, and in the current pandemic, we are also so pleased that many residents are using this space to get their daily exercise.

Over the years, we have received representations from many of our residents, and we really welcome this - because it helps us take decisions to benefit as many in our community as we can. We do accept however there must always be some compromises.

Recently, we have had a number of concerns raised by residents regarding dogs running loose and fouling in the park, and this has particularly affected the youngsters that play football there. We work closely with AFC Unity, the well-established football club, who do some fantastic work for our youngsters. They contribute to the parish council in return for the use of the football pitches, and we want to ensure the safety of their young players who use them.

The Parish Council wants to continue to support the use of the park by all our residents, including responsible dog owners, and to this end we politely ask that dogs are kept on leads in this space so that everyone can safely enjoy this great public space we all cherish. We would like to remind all dog owners to remember to pick up after your dogs and use the dog waste bins provided in several locations around the park.
