Dear residents,
Parking in the Village
It has come to our attention that there has been increased parking enforcement in our village by the Sevenoaks District Council’s Civil Enforcement Team.
In particular, I would like to bring to your attention two specific areas where people are unaware of the current parking restrictions that apply - where some residents have already received penalties:
- The ‘lay-by’ area directly outside the off license (opposite Emerson’s Avenue) is subject to the same parking restrictions as on the carriageway of Main Road . Parking there is prohibited between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00hrs.
- The area to the left of the post office (immediately outside number 8 Home Hill) has enforceable parking restrictions. The restrictions that are denoted by the yellow lines that are printed on the main carriageway in Home Hill, extend onto the raised pavement area. This currently means that parking outside No 8 Home Hill is prohibited and is subject to parking enforcement.
Whilst the Parish Council has no jurisdiction over car parking, we are working with Kent Highways, and Sevenoaks District, to look for options to deal with this problem. This process will take time, and although the outcome of the review will not be certain, we hope to be able influence a sensible resolution.
