Rotary is an international organisation with 35,000 clubs around the World including approximately 40,000 members in the UK. The Rotary Club of the North Downs was set up in 1976 and has members with a wide range of interests and backgrounds.
Members meet on Thursdays at 7.30 pm at the Holiday Inn, Black Prince, Bexley for a meal which is usually followed by a speaker. However, on the fourth Thursday business matters are discussed including fund raising activities and support to global, national as well as local charities.
Our club actively supports a number of charities locally, nationally and internationally. We continue to raise funds for Ellenor Hospices, Demelza Hospices for Children, Darent Valley Hospital and many others. At the global level, Rotary has provided millions of pounds to support the fight against polio.
In addition to our charity work we organise a variety of social events both for members and the wider community. These include our annual St George’s Day concert, quiz nights, theatre trips, meals and even a recent visit to a micro-brewery.
We are very keen to maintain these traditions and welcome new members from the area.
